This is an unusual order of red man fraternal organization flag that dates back to c.1870-1890. It is printed on polished cotton and attached to the original parade stick. The red man organized in the 1820s and their roots go back to the Boston tea party. Colonists dressed like Mohawk Indians and swam out to English ships to dump the tea into the Boston Harbor. The Red mans were a secret patriotic society and among the early were the sons of Liberty including several presidents. This is very unusual 19th century parade flag that is seldom found.
