This is an early 19th century oil on canvas portrait of George Washington. It is in original as found condition with several early patches on the back. It has a good dry surface and patina which has never been relined. It once hung in the Fountain House Tavern in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, which is one of 7 pre-revolutionary war taverns in the area. In the 19th century it became a post and stagecoach line stop connecting Philadelphia and Easten. It was entered into the national register of historic places in 1972. This is a nice early historic George Washington folk art portrait from the 19th century. Measurements: 32″ x 37″ framed, 25″ x 29″ image
