THIS IS A MODEL 1840 CIVIL WAR SWORD AND SCABBARD WITH THE MAKERS MARK “K&C” INSIDE THE SAW TOOTH OVAL ON THE RICASSO. THIS CAVALRY SABER WAS FOUND IN AN OLD HOME 10 SOUTH OF MANASSAS. IT IS IN GOOD ORIGINAL UNTOUCHED CONDITION WITH THE ORIGINAL SCABBARD, HARD LEATHER GRIP, AND DOUBLE TWISTED WIRE ON THE HANDLE. THERE IS A BATTLE DING ON THE EDGE OF THE BLADE WITH HARDLY ANY RUST. A MODEL 1840 IS A HEAVIER SWORD AND A FAVORITE SABER OF NATHEN BEDFORD FORREST AND AMONG THE EARLY CONFEDERACY BUT KIRSCHBAUM SOLD CAVALRY SWORDS TO BOTH SIDES. NICE EARLY ORIGINAL CIVIL WAR SWORD.
